Denial refers to preventing an enemy champion from gaining gold or experience by restricting their access to minions or jungle monsters. Although some other MOBA games allow players to kill their own minions to deny the opponent, League of Legends does not support this mechanic. Instead, denial happens indirectly through pressure, trading, or forcing the enemy away from the wave.
In LoL, denial is most commonly achieved through strong Lane harass, threatening damage so the opponent cannot safely approach minions. Another method is Zoning, where a player controls an area of the lane and forces the enemy to stay back or risk being punished. Effective denial creates meaningful gold and experience gaps, making it harder for the opponent to keep up in Farming or contest early objectives.
